AKA HOTEL FACADE + INTERIOR RENOVATION

frontcanopy.jpg

ARCHITECTS: STANEV POTTS ARCHITECTS
COMPLETED: APRIL 2019
ROLE: DESIGNER + PROJECT MANAGER

The hotel renovation consisted of a complete lobby refresh and a new facade entrance that is now more consistent with the historic architecture of the 1913 building. A ten foot deep, cantilevered canopy with signage now greets its users from afar and brings more presence to the streetscape.

The interior of the lobby has a minimal, but bold aesthetic that now has better flow for those staying at the hotel. A fifteen foot high by five foot wide moss wall balances the crisp black and white finishes and greets guests as a focal point  at the main entrance.

Renovating the existing hotel included a preliminary process of obtaining approvals from multiple departments in the city of Philadelphia, which included presentations to both the Philadelphia Historic Commission Board and the Philadelphia Art Commission.
